HENRY COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — An 18-year-old man is facing multiple charges after a motorcycle pursuit ended in a crash Tuesday afternoon, according to a Feb. 11 news release from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies with the Drug Interdiction Unit attempted to stop a white motorcycle around 4:17 p.m. Feb. 10 on Virginia Avenue.

Authorities said the motorcycle had no license plate and a GoPro camera mounted on the rear.

When a deputy activated emergency equipment, the rider refused to stop and fled north on U.S. 220 at a high rate of speed.

The motorcycle entered the Speedway parking lot at Bassett Forks before rejoining traffic and continuing the pursuit, deputies said.

The rider later traveled onto Tower Road and Reed Creek Drive, where speeds exceeded 80 miles per hour.

As the driver approached the intersection of Reed Creek Road and U.S. 220 North, he lost control and crashed.

The rider was taken into custody without further incident and identified as Blake Alexander Williams.

Williams was transported to Sovah Health for treatment of minor injuries, medically cleared, and then taken to the Henry County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held on a $3,000 secured bond.

He has been charged with felony eluding law enforcement, no motorcycle endorsement, no vehicle registration and operating a motorcycle with slick tires.
