PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A Pittsylvania County deputy was airlifted Thursday afternoon following a crash involving a county patrol vehicle, according to Sheriff Mike Taylor.
Sheriff Taylor told rbs news now, “The Virginia State Police is investigating the circumstances of the crash so I would respectfully ask that the details come from the investigating trooper.”

Taylor added that the deputy was flown to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center “out of an abundance of caution,” and said the deputy appeared alert and responsive to first responders at the scene.
No additional details were released.
As of 11 p.m. Thursday, Virginia State Police had not provided further information.
