HENRY COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A wanted suspect with multiple outstanding warrants was arrested late Wednesday following a high-speed vehicle pursuit that ended in a crash.

Deputies attempted to stop a silver Nissan Altima around 11:30 p.m. Feb. 11 for reckless driving after clocking the vehicle at 81 mph in a 60-mph zone near A.L. Philpott Highway and Stoney Mountain Road in Henry County.

Authorities said the driver refused to stop, accelerated and led deputies on a brief pursuit exceeding 100 mph before losing control and crashing into a wooded area in front of The Refuge Center for Deliverance on Stoney Mountain Road.

The driver fled on foot but was quickly apprehended and identified as Germaine Junior Woods, 35.

Deputies determined Woods had four outstanding warrants, one from Martinsville City and three from Franklin County.

Woods was transported to the Martinsville emergency room for evaluation of what appeared to be minor injuries.

After being released from the hospital, Woods was taken to the Henry County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held without bond.

In Henry County, Woods is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, felony eluding police, driving while license suspended or revoked, receiving a stolen firearm, reckless driving and driving while intoxicated.

He also faces a felony failure to appear charge from Martinsville City and three Franklin County charges for possession with intent to distribute meth, fentanyl and cocaine.
