BASSETT, Va. (rbs news now) — Three people were arrested Friday following the execution of a narcotics-related search warrant at a Bassett residence.
Deputies executed the warrant around 11:45 a.m. Feb. 20 on Out-A-Way Drive.
The operation stemmed from authorities receiving information from community members about suspected illegal drug activity at the residence.
During the investigation, deputies conducted a traffic stop involving one of the suspects.
K9 Axel performed a free-air sniff of the vehicle, which led to the discovery of suspected crack cocaine, cash and firearms, according to authorities.
Claude Donnell Woods, 67, a convicted felon who lives at the residence, was taken into custody.
He is being held without bond at the Henry County Adult Detention Center.
Woods is charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute schedule I or II drugs, possession of a schedule I or II drug with a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
While deputies were executing the search warrant, a second individual barricaded himself inside a structure on the property.

The sheriff’s office SWAT team deployed chemical munitions, and the individual exited peacefully.
Verlon Reno Hall, 47, was taken into custody without further incident and is being held without bond at the Henry County Adult Detention Center.
Hall is charged with resisting arrest, obstructing justice, falsely identifying himself to law enforcement, and three probation violations out of Franklin County.
Authorities said a third individual, Leroy Ellis, 57, arrived at the residence while investigators were on scene.
Deputies determined Ellis was wanted by the Martinsville Police Department and took him into custody without incident.
Ellis is being held on a $1,000 secured bond through the City of Martinsville.
He faces charges of assault on a law enforcement officer, obstruction of justice, trespassing and public intoxication.
Investigators reported seizing approximately 13 ounces of crack cocaine, five ounces of meth, digital scales, eight firearms, three motor vehicles, three ATVs, a utility trailer and other power tools and equipment.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are possible pending further review of the evidence.
