PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A 68-year-old man is facing a malicious wounding charge after a shooting Thursday morning in the Java community left another man injured, according to the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said they received a call at about 10:30 a.m. March 19 reporting a shooting in the 200 block of Brownsville Heights Lane.

Deputies and investigators arrived to find a male victim suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the leg.

The victim was secured at the scene and taken for medical treatment.

Authorities said he is currently listed in stable condition.

Investigators said the suspect fled the scene but was taken into custody about two and a half hours later after turning himself in to deputies and investigators on Brownsville Heights Lane without incident.

The suspect was identified as George Glass III, 68, of Brownsville Heights Lane in Java.

Authorities said the shooting was considered isolated to the residence, where both men knew each other and lived in the same home.

Glass has been charged with malicious wounding.

Investigators said additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.

Officials said the motive for the shooting remains unclear.

More information is expected to be released once the investigation is complete.
