PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — Two people, including a child, were killed Friday afternoon in a crash in Pittsylvania County, according to Virginia State Police.

The crash happened at about 2:30 p.m. March 27 on Halifax Road at the intersection of Java Road.

State police said a 2006 Honda Accord was turning onto Halifax Road from Java Road when it was struck by a 2021 Ford F-350 that was going west on Halifax Road.

The driver of the Honda was identified as Charline Gail Patterson, 46, of Java.

A passenger, 4-year-old Ivyonna Patterson, was also in the vehicle.

Both Charline Patterson and Ivyonna Patterson died at the scene, according to police.

Authorities said both occupants of the Honda were using proper safety equipment at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
