
MARTINSVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — A workplace dispute that escalated into gunfire left a Martinsville woman dead and 11 people facing charges, police announced on September 2.
Officers responded to the 500 block of Forest Street on August 12 and found Crystal Galloway Jordan critically injured.
The 39-year-old woman was transported to the local hospital and died there after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds during a large disturbance.
Investigators said they determined that a group of individuals conspired to confront and fight local residents, which lead to an altercation where firearms were brandished and discharged.
Nine Danville residents and two Henry County residents were charged with malicious wounding by mob and they are:

- Aniya Shavon Carter, 19
- Tatyuanna Alexius Grasty, 19
- Makayla Allie Hurd, 19
- Shaniya Leatrice Hood, 19
- Juma’Rius Rayquan Yarbrough, 19
- David Gordon Ferrell III, 20
- Kareema Rashanda Austin, 20
- Jade Nicole Mays, 21
- Davyion Lil Deejay Ferrell, 23
Investigators are still working to determine whether there was one or multiple shooters.
Additional charges, including homicide-related counts, remain possible as the investigation continues.

MARTINSVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — A Martinsville woman is dead and a Danville man is seriously injured after a shooting Tuesday night in Martinsville.
Martinsville police officers and Martinsville Fire and EMS responded to the 500 block of Forest Street to a large disturbance on August 12 shortly before 10 p.m.
When they arrived, they found that 39-year-old Crystal Galloway Jordan had been shot, according to Acting Police Chief Chad Rhoads said.
Jordan was taken to SOVAH Health Martinsville, where she later died from her injuries.
While officers were investigating, a 20-year-old man arrived at the hospital with gunshot wounds that police believe were connected to the same incident.
Rhoads said he remains in serious condition.
Witnesses told rbs news now that several people dispersed from what appeared to be a large gathering in the area.
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia State Police, and Martinsville Sheriff’s Office assisted at both the scene and the hospital.
Investigators are expected to keep Forest Street closed until sunrise Wednesday as they process the scene.
