DANVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — A former youth care worker at W.W. Moore Jr. Juvenile Detention Home has been indicted and arrested following an investigation into an alleged unlawful relationship with a juvenile in custody.
Staff at the W.W. Moore Jr. Juvenile Detention Home received a report Feb. 10 of a possible inappropriate and unlawful relationship between an employee and a juvenile who had previously been held at the facility.
Administrators launched an internal investigation and notified the Danville Police Department, which began a criminal investigation.
Before returning to work Feb. 11, the employee was placed on administrative leave.
Based on initial findings, the employee was terminated Feb. 12.
Investigators determined that between August 2022 and July 2023, Wendy Moyer Warren, 42, engaged in non-forcible sexual contact with a then-15-year-old male who was in custody at the facility.

Warren had worked at the detention home for nine years.
On Feb. 23, Warren, of Pittsylvania County, was indicted and arrested without incident.
She is charged with two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child by a person in a custodial or supervisory relationship and one count of carnal knowledge of certain minors.
Warren is being held without bond at the Danville City Jail.
Facility staff began an internal review to ensure the safety and security of residents.
The incident was also reported to the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice and Danville Social Services Child Protective Services.
Because the case involves a victim who was a juvenile at the time and remains pending trial, authorities said no additional information will be released.
