HENRY COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — Two men were arrested early Saturday after a pursuit ended in a crash and a sheriff’s patrol vehicle was struck by a suspected drunk driver, according to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop just after midnight March 7 on a Chevrolet Tahoe at Dutch Inn, located at 2360 Virginia Ave. in Collinsville.

Authorities said the driver fled as deputies approached the vehicle, initiating a high-speed pursuit southbound on Virginia Avenue.

The chase traveled a short distance before the suspect vehicle crashed in front of Deluxe Pawn, located at 1806 Virginia Ave.

The driver was taken into custody without incident and identified as Stephen Jermaine Gravley, 44, of Martinsville.

Gravley is charged with felony eluding police and driving under the influence.

He is being held without bond at the Henry County Adult Detention Center.

As deputies began the pursuit, one of the patrol vehicles was struck by a Toyota Tacoma in front of the Dutch Inn.

Authorities said the deputy had emergency equipment activated at the time of the crash.

The collision caused significant damage to both the patrol vehicle and the Tacoma.

The Virginia State Police responded to investigate the crash.

As a result of the investigation, the driver of the Toyota Tacoma, Colby Glenn Jackson, 23, of Ridgeway, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.

Jackson is being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center on a $2,500 secured bond.

Authorities said no injuries were reported in either crash.

HENRY COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — Authorities are investigating a crash early Saturday that followed a reported pursuit on Virginia Avenue in Henry County.

Emergency crews were dispatched around midnight March 7 to the area of Deluxe Pawn, 1806 Virginia Ave., after a Chevrolet Tahoe crashed there.

According to chatter from law enforcement officers, the vehicle had been involved in a pursuit before the crash and one person was taken into custody.

The Virginia State Police is investigating the crash.

Responding agencies included Henry County Public Safety and the Collinsville Volunteer Fire Department.

Around the same time, crews were also called to the parking lot of the Dutch Inn at 2360 Virginia Ave. for a damaged Henry County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle.

It remains unclear whether the patrol vehicle was struck by the suspect vehicle.

A female deputy at the scene did not appear to be injured.

It is also unclear whether state police will investigate the patrol vehicle incident.

Only sheriff’s deputies were present at that location.
