PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — Two people have been arrested after the body of a woman reported missing in November was discovered in Pittsylvania County, according to authorities.

Investigators with the Danville Police Department said they have been actively investigating the disappearance of Debbie Ann Marrero, a 60-year-old woman who was reported missing on Nov. 20, 2025.

On March 9, investigators received information from the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office about a possible lead in the case.

Authorities said investigators from the Danville Police Department and the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office then conducted a joint search in the southeastern section of Pittsylvania County for a suspected location connected to Marrero’s disappearance.

During the investigation, and based on information gathered through interviews, authorities located and recovered Marrero’s body in the 1600 block of Mountain Hill Road in Ringgold.

As a result of the investigation, authorities arrested Deborah Lynn Hurd, 63, and David Thomas Gunnell, 61, both of Danville, and charged them with Marrero’s murder.

Both suspects are currently being held without bond pending their first court appearance.

Officials said the investigation remains active and ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Anyone with information related to the case is asked to contact the Danville Police Department Investigations Division or the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities also expressed their condolences to Marrero’s family.
