PATRICK COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A 72-year-old Stuart woman who was reported missing Wednesday morning was found deceased later that evening, according to Patrick County Sheriff Dan Smith.
At approximately 10 a.m. Sept. 2, the Patrick County 9-1-1 Communications Center received a call from a residence in the 100 block of Salem Highway reporting that Jeanette Moxley had left the home on foot earlier that morning and had not returned.
Sheriff Smith said Moxley had serious underlying health issues.
Deputies responded and began searching for her.
Volunteers and public safety agencies from Patrick County and Stokes County, North Carolina assisted with the search.

The Virginia Department of Emergency Management also was called to help coordinate the effort.
“Sadly, just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Ms. Moxley was found deceased approximately three tenths of a mile from where she was last seen,” Smith said in a Thursday Facebook post.
Smith said the investigation remains active and no additional details will be released at this time.
The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the state medical examiner’s office are assisting with the investigation.
Smith also thanked the numerous volunteers and public safety agencies that assisted in the search, which took place in temperatures approaching 100 degrees.
