MARTINSVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — A Danville man wanted in connection with an investigation into a shooting that injured a 1-year-old child was arrested Tuesday in Martinsville, according to Martinsville Police Chief Chad Rhoads.
K-Sean La’Darius Royster, 24, was arrested at RiverBirch Apartments near the intersection of First Street and F Street.
Martinsville police said Danville investigators developed information that Royster was in the area and requested assistance from Martinsville police.
Officers located Royster and arrested him without incident.
Royster was considered armed and dangerous while authorities were searching for him, police said.
The Danville Police Department announced Sept. 14 that Royster was wanted for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in connection with the Sept. 7 shooting at Purdum Woods that left a 1-year-old girl injured.
Police said the child was shot in the lower body while being held by her mother in the breezeway of the G building at the apartment complex.
She was airlifted to a trauma facility and released from the hospital Sept. 8.
Police said she is recovering.
The Sept. 7 shooting remains an active and ongoing investigation.
Police previously said multiple individuals fired toward a group in the breezeway in what appeared to be a targeted attack, with gunfire also returned from the breezeway.
Two apartments were struck by gunfire.

DANVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — Danville police are seeking the public’s help locating a 24-year-old man wanted in connection with the investigation into a shooting that injured a 1-year-old child at the Purdum Woods apartment complex.
The Danville Police Department said Monday, Sept. 14, that K-Sean La’Darius Royster, 24, of Danville, is wanted for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in relation to the Sept. 7 shooting at the apartment complex.
Police said the 1-year-old girl who was injured in the shooting was released from the hospital Sept. 8 and is recovering.
The shooting happened shortly after 1:20 a.m. Sept. 7 at the G building of Purdum Woods, located at 1575 Richmond Boulevard.
Police said multiple individuals fired toward a group in the building’s breezeway in what appeared to be a targeted attack.
Gunfire was also returned from the breezeway.
The child was being held by her mother when she was struck by gunfire.
She suffered a gunshot wound to her lower body and was initially airlifted to a trauma facility for treatment.
Police said the suspects fled the scene on foot, and two apartments in the G building were struck by gunfire.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.

DANVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — A 1-year-old girl was shot early Monday after multiple people opened fire toward a group in the breezeway of a Danville apartment complex, police said.
The Danville Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting multiple shots fired and a child struck by gunfire at approximately 1:23 a.m. Sept. 7 at the G building of the Purdum Woods apartment complex on Richmond Boulevard.
Officers found the 1-year-old girl suffering from a gunshot wound to her lower body.
Officers and first responders provided immediate medical attention before she was airlifted to a trauma facility.
The child was listed in stable condition, police said.
Investigators determined that at approximately 1:21 a.m., multiple individuals fired shots toward a group standing in the G building breezeway in what appeared to be a targeted attack, according to police.
Gunfire was also returned from the breezeway.
Police said the child was being held by her mother when she was struck while standing in the breezeway.
The suspects fled the area on foot.
Two apartments in the G building were struck by gunfire, police said.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
Danville police are asking anyone with information or surveillance footage from the area to contact the department.
Investigators are particularly interested in footage from areas between Purdum Road, Bradley Road and side streets leading toward North Main Street.
