MARTINSVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — A 19-year-old was killed and another person was wounded in a July 7 shooting, according to the Martinsville Police Department.

Police were dispatched to the 1400 block of Rivermont Heights for the incident around 2:36 a.m.

According to police, a large gathering at a home escalated into a fight, leading at least two individuals to open fire.

Officers arriving on the scene said they found two victims with gunshot wounds.

Both victims were transported to SOVAH Health.

One victim was treated and released.

The other victim, identified as Iviyan Dandridge, of Martinsville, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Investigators from the city police department and the Henry County Sheriff’s Office are processing the scene and interviewing witnesses.

Authorities believe multiple people witnessed the incident.
