MARTINSVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — The Harvest Youth Board has announced the 7th annual W. Dan Prince III Thanksgiving Eve Dinner.
The event is set to take place on November 27 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Martinsville High School, 351 Commonwealth Boulevard East.
The free holiday meal will be available for dine-in, carryout, and delivery, ensuring accessibility for all residents of Martinsville and Henry County.
Community members requesting meal delivery must call 276-500-5004 by midnight on November 20.
No reservations are needed for dine-in or carryout options.
Families with children under 12 will receive a complimentary copy of A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving by Charles M. Schulz, a gift from the youth board to promote literacy.
Last year’s event served over 3,400 meals, supported by more than 240 volunteers.
The youth board also distributed over 375 books to families.
Volunteers are critical to the dinner’s success, performing tasks such as greeting, cooking, serving, packing, and delivering meals, a news release said.
Delivery drivers must be licensed and at least 18 years old.
The board encourages community members to participate, especially as drivers.
Harvest Youth Board member Jimmy Dong highlighted the event’s significance, saying, “Every year, I look forward to and enjoy helping with the Thanksgiving Eve dinner. It makes me pleased to know that I can contribute to the betterment of this community.”
