
PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A Cascade man has been charged with murder after a woman was found dead Sunday morning inside a Pittsylvania County residence.
At around 8:30 a.m. on Mother’s Day, May 10, the Pittsylvania County 9-1-1 Center received information from Henry County 9-1-1 Center regarding a possible homicide in the 5800 block of Cascade Road.
Deputies and investigators responded to the area and discovered the body of 39-year-old Mayra Gonzalez Galvin inside the residence.
Authorities said a young child was also found inside the home unharmed.
Child Protective Services was immediately notified, and authorities said placement arrangements for the child would be coordinated jointly between Child Protective Services and law enforcement.
During the preliminary investigation, authorities issued an all-points bulletin for a person of interest connected to the case.
Shortly afterward, officers with the Martinsville Police Department located and stopped the vehicle.

Investigators with the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and took 25-year-old Luis Jaime Ocasio-Padilla, of Cascade Mill Road in Cascade, into custody.
Ocasio-Padilla has been charged with first-degree murder, armed burglary with intent to commit a felony and use of a firearm in the commission of murder.
He is currently being held at the Pittsylvania County Jail pending arraignment in Pittsylvania County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
Investigators said Ocasio-Padilla and Galvin shared a child together.
Authorities said they do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the community.
The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office said the Pittsylvania County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office also assisted in the investigation.
The investigation remains ongoing.
