BASSETT, Va. (rbs news now) — A narcotics investigation in the Bassett area led to the execution of a search warrant Tuesday night and the arrest of a Henry County man.

Authorities said the search warrant was executed around 9:45 p.m. May 12 at a residence located on Chestnut Oak Drive as part of an ongoing investigation into the distribution of meth from the home.

Members of the Henry County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team encountered about 12 individuals and several dogs inside the residence upon arrival.

During the search, investigators located suspected meth and fentanyl inside the home.

According to the sheriff’s office, investigators believe attempts were made to destroy evidence by flushing suspected meth down a toilet, causing the toilet to clog.

Deputies said they were still able to recover multiple ounces of suspected meth.

As a result of the investigation, 36-year-old Teyan Davon Jones was arrested and charged with possession of a schedule I or II drug involving meth.

Jones is being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center without bond.

Authorities said Jones was already on supervised probation and out on bond for a pending narcotics-related charge at the time of the arrest.

Investigators also said the sheriff’s office plans to seek petitions on a 17-year-old female juvenile who was allegedly found in possession of suspected illegal narcotics, including fentanyl, and digital scales.

The sheriff’s office described the residence as a nuisance property that has generated numerous complaints from the community for several years.

Sheriff Wayne Davis said the sheriff’s office remains committed to targeting illegal drug activity in Henry County.

“The Henry County Sheriff’s Office maintains zero tolerance when it comes to illegal drugs in our communities,” Sheriff Davis stated. “We remain committed to aggressively targeting individuals who distribute narcotics and negatively impact the quality of life for the citizens of Henry County.”

The investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are possible.
