AXTON, Va. (rbs news now) — Two people were arrested Thursday morning after the Henry County Sheriff’s Office executed a narcotics search warrant at an Axton mobile home.

Authorities served the search warrant on Mars Drive at around 6 a.m. on May 21.

Investigators said Timothy Lee Smith, 58, and Amanda Michelle Henderson, 57, were inside the residence when deputies entered the home.

During the search, investigators recovered suspected crack cocaine, a firearm and about $744 in cash.

Authorities also seized two vehicles from the property, including a 2008 Mercedes GL450 and a 2010 BMW 328i convertible.

Smith was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a schedule I or II drug while possessing a firearm.

He is being held without bond at the Henry County Adult Detention Center.

Henderson was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and is being held on a $1,500 bond.

Sheriff Wayne Davis said investigators believe Smith attempted to destroy evidence when deputies arrived at the home.

“This individual is lying in bed waiting on our arrival, and when he sees us on his multi-camera surveillance system, he decides to jump from the bed and grab his pre-prepared razor blade as he runs to the bathroom to cut his bag of crack rocks open and flush them down the toilet,” Sheriff Davis said. “I guess in his sleepiness, he inadvertently cuts himself open, cuts the bag open, and leaves a breadcrumb trail of crack rocks all the way to his bathroom.”

Davis said investigators believe some narcotics may have been flushed before deputies entered the bathroom, but authorities still recovered a quantity of suspected crack cocaine.

The investigation remains ongoing and additional information could be released at a later time.
