HENRY COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A large law enforcement response was reported early Sunday morning in the area of Chestnut Knob Road and Rose Lane following reports of multiple gunshots fired during a gathering.
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene after numerous calls were received by the 9-1-1 center reporting gunfire in the area.
As deputies worked to secure the scene, the Henry County Department of Public Safety was requested to stage nearby and was advised to remain away from the immediate area because of reports that multiple shots had been fired.
An air ambulance was initially requested to stand by but was later canceled.
Deputies reported that a large number of people were present when law enforcement arrived.

However, authorities said they initially had difficulty obtaining information from those at the scene.
According to Henry County Sheriff Wayne Davis, the incident stemmed from a large gathering on Rose Lane.
Despite the reports of gunfire, Sheriff Davis said no victims had been located and there were no confirmed reports of anyone being struck by gunfire as of Sunday morning.
Davis also confirmed that two suspects were taken into custody on firearms-related charges.
The Martinsville Police Department, Patrick County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police provided assistance.
The investigation remains ongoing.
