DANVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — Two 13-year-old boys have been charged after another 13-year-old was stabbed multiple times during an assault in Danville, according to police.

Officers were dispatched at around 4:42 p.m. on June 15 to a business in the 300 block of Craghead Street after receiving a report that a 13-year-old male had arrived there seeking help after being stabbed at another location.

The victim was treated at the scene and immediately transported for medical care.

According to investigators, the victim had been invited to meet two other juveniles at a predetermined location near Bridge Street.

Once there, one of the suspects, a 13-year-old male from Danville, became involved in a physical altercation with the victim.

Police said a second 13-year-old male from Danville then joined the assault and began physically attacking the victim.

During the altercation, investigators said the first suspect produced a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times in the back.

Both suspects fled the area on foot.

Despite his injuries, the victim walked from the scene to a business, where he asked someone to call for medical assistance.

Investigators later identified both juvenile suspects and arrested them at separate locations.

The juvenile accused of carrying out the stabbing was charged with aggravated malicious wounding and was placed in custody at the W.W. Moore Jr. Juvenile Detention Home.

The second juvenile was charged with conspiracy to commit a felony and assault by mob.

He was also placed in custody at the W.W. Moore Jr. Juvenile Detention Home.

Police said the incident was isolated and involved individuals who knew one another.

Because the suspects are juveniles, their names and photographs are not being released.

The victim was treated for multiple stab wounds and later released.

Authorities said his injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The investigation remains ongoing.
