PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — Two men were killed on Father’s Day following a shooting in the Long Island community of Pittsylvania County.

Deputies were dispatched at around 8:30 p.m. June 21 to the 500 block of Cedar Forest Road after receiving a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, deputies found two men suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds, according to the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office.

Both men were unresponsive and were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the sheriff’s office, the preliminary investigation indicates the incident stemmed from a verbal altercation that escalated into an exchange of gunfire between the two individuals.

The deceased were identified as 47-year-old Kenton Deon Hubbard of Evington and 34-year-old Tevin Devonte Davis of Long Island.

Investigators said neither man lived at the residence where the shooting occurred.

However, authorities determined that one of the deceased was associated with a resident of the property.

Both men have been transported to the medical examiner’s office, where autopsies will be conducted to determine the official cause and manner of death.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
